Former Michigan State catcher Eric Roof is the new volunteer assistant coach, the school announced Thursday. Roof replaces Jake Boss, Sr., who retired following this last season. Roof was a three year letterwinner at MSU from 2007-09 and was captain his senior year. He was MVP as a senior. Roof also played three minor league seasons in the Detroit Tigers' organization.
