MSU athletic director Mark Hollis told reporters in his office Thursday he expects Munn Arena to be renovated with official announcement coming likely within a week. Hollis says he doesn't have donor money to build new, or words to that effect. He also supports beleagured veteran softball coach Jacquie Joseph. It is clear she is being retained for next season despite an 0-15 home record this spring, 0-23 in the Big Ten. But he admits to having frank discussions with her about the future. He believes the new video boards will change the fan experience in Spartan Stadium this fall and hopes to keep playing opening games on Friday nights on Labor Day weekend. Hollis also says he is in talks with MSU president Lou Anna Simon about his compensation, not among the highest among Big Ten A-Ds.
