Chicago Simeon High School junior Jabari Parker has been named Gatorade High School basketball player of the year. He received the award in Spanish class Thursday by former winner Alonzo Mourning. Parker led his team to a 33-1 record and the state championship while averaging nearly 21 points per game. He is being heavily recruited and Michigan State is said to be among those with a good chance to land the 6-8 star.
