The Detroit Tigers are hopeful injured catcher/designated hitter Victor Martinez might yet play this season. Doctors have determined Martinez does not need further surgery on his torn ACL as originally projected. That will speed up Martinez' return although the Tigers do not know if he'll play this season some or not. Martinez tore his ACL in a workout in Florida in January.
