The Los Angeles Kings won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history Monday night with a 6-1 win over the visiting New Jersey Devils. The Kings scored three power play goals during a 5-minute major penalty against the Devils in the first period and were never headed after that. New Jersey had won the last two games of the series and game 7 would have been at New Jersey, but the Kings took carer of business quickly at the Staples Center. Grand Ledge native Matt Greene is an assistant captain for the Kings and reportedly plans to bring the Cup to mid Michigan for a day during the off season.
