We do need additional means to get from windsor and detroit. The current bridge will only last another 20-30 years before it needs major upgrades and having mulitple access points will improve things long term.
Why is it bad?
The owner of the Ambassador bridge has told tales out of school about what it will cost us to have customs plazas at the new bridge. No more than what we pay for customs plazas at his bridge. He is as bad as the politicans

Heres a little lesson for those who know NOTHING about international border crossings.. You keep saying Moroun's willing to build a bridge that wont cost you ANYTHING? Stupidest thing I've ever heard.. He's trying to build one up in the Niagra region too. Already owns all the land on both sides for it . Pay attention here.. Moroun builds the bridge...900 million.. Then what? CALL IN THE TAXPAYER ! Time to hook it into the freeway systems ON BOTH SIDES! Canadas offer for our interchanges.=550 million.. Another 550 million on the Canadian side. WALA! Moroun just got Dumb and Dumber to spend 200 MILLION more than he did on the span!! You think thats stupid?? WE AREN'T DONE YET! THOSE WERE JUST THE STATES COSTS!! Now call in the REALLY STUPID FEDS and have em build your inspection plazas.(after Moroun rapes us over the cost of the land). Those are said to be in the area of another 500 million.. EACH SIDE!! Where we at now?? 1.2 BILLION MORE THAN MOROUN SPENT BUILDING THE BRIDGE!!! He builds his little toll collection booths.. Hires some twits to take your money and WE PAY EVERY OTHER EMPLOYEE YOU SEE AT THAT CROSSING!!! 100 MILLION A YEAR TO SECURE THIS THING FOR HIM! HOW STUPID DO YOU FEEL NOW?
Why is it bad for the owner of the Ambassador Bridge to spend his own money defending his business from the Canadian government, but it's OK for Governor Snyder and the Canadian government to blow millions of our tax dollars PROMOTING this unnecessary bridge? And why don't Canadians get a say in this? Why do only Michiganders have the democratic privilege of a vote on this? Canadians should be given the option to vote down this waste of our tax dollars that will ultimately leave Michiganders holding the bag and facing unemployment once the make work construction jobs dry up.
Is this what passes for public policy in Michigan now -- seeking foreign aid from Canada for infrastructure? Not only is this a bad deal for Canadian taxpayers - Canada has plenty of bridges that need repair or replacing - but because the Canadian government is broke and because Prime Minister Harper is likely to be thrown out of office before NITC is built, Michiganders will be left holding the bag for billions blown on an unneeded bridge. And there is no way government's notoriously inaccurate bureaucratic forecasts for traffic and tolls will hold up. This bridge boondoggle is as bad for Michigan as it is for Canadians. In November, vote to let Canadians keep their money for their own much needed roads and bridges, and vote to protect Michigan from a massive tax bill a few years down the road...
Snyder and Calley can be trusted only about as far as I can throw them, and being a little old lady, I can't throw either of them. The owner of the Ambassador Bridge may indeed have a personal agenda, but don't you believe for one hot minute that Snyder doesn't have one too. Snyder is driven by nothing less than a bloated sense of pride and unlimited personal greed. Michigan's citizens are getting exactly the government they voted for: dictatorship by capitalism untempered by any real moral values whatsoever.
Facts according to the Gov. and his "assistant." When something sounds too good to be true, it almost always isn't. This Governor has not be open with any of his ideas. It's always "trust me because I am your leader" with this guy. We are not that naive or blind. We know what the adjenda is for the Ambassador Bridge owner. What is really Snyder's adjenda other than to build a monument for him to brag about. Why would Michigan want to be part owner of a bridge when the Governor seems to want to privatize everything else? He even considered selling the Mackinaw Bridge when he first got into office.
