DETROIT (AP) -- Mayor Dave Bing has called a rare weekend meeting of the Detroit City Council to consider a budget amendment on the final day of the fiscal year.
Bing wants council members to consider transferring $415,000 to cover a shortfall due to high fuel costs. The meeting is set for Saturday.
A spokeswoman says the money would be transferred to the General Services Department from an account that has a surplus. Detroit's new fiscal year begins Sunday.
