Posted: 6:28 PM Jun 11, 2012
Reporter: Associated Press

Ninety-two state trooper candidates have started a 19-week boot-camp style course at the Michigan State Police Training Academy in Lansing.
State police said Monday that recruits will get training in firearms, water safety, defensive tactics, patrol techniques, report writing, ethics, first aid, criminal law, crime scene processing and precision driving.
State police say instructors include the school's commander and assistant commander, plus 16 troopers from around Michigan.
The training day runs from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and recruits must remain at the academy from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon.
Recruits who successfully complete the training are scheduled to graduate Oct. 19.
