Officials estimated that as many as 10,000 people would show up to the 54th annual Jackson County Rose Parade and it looked like that much as people lined the streets of Jackson to view the parade.

The two-mile long parade began at South Jackson and Mason Streets and featured everything from floats to tractors. The theme this year was Hometown Heroes, honoring both war veterans and local public safety officers.

For many residents, the parade is a long-standing, family tradition.

"It's a part of home", said Paulina Holiday, of Jackson, who has been coming to the parade for 20 years. "I always bring my children down here every Rose Parade and they enjoy it."

For parade officials, the planning for the Rose Parade begins months in advance.

"Going through the city to get street requests done, sending out information, and getting things on the website...it's kind of a year-long process", said Parade Director, Liz Niles.

This year's parade was followed by a "Party in the Park" at Ella Sharp Park.
