Why move prisoners all the way across the state? Parnall facility has a 400 bed unit not used. JMF has 3 housing units not being used and there is the SMI institution not being used. People who have family in prison from detroit will have to travel across the state to visit Jackson is closer. Plus the transportation cost would be cheaper for the state and with state hospital being right there would be a bonus. Is the republican from muskegon district up for re-election this year? trying to buy the vote just before election time?
