What a fabulous idea and good job by Shannon Kantner. This has been done in Germany since the end of World War 1 when everyone was starving. My relatives there are still doing it today. Very valuable information.

So what? We constantly eat fish out of our lakes that are supposedly contaminated, yet we are still alive.

What plants are they using to detox the soil? These community gardens are great idea, but they need to plant various plants that will extract the pollutants out of the ground like lead, copper, florocarbons. Some of the vegatables do the same thing but they store the toxins in the edible part of the plant.
