The festivities will take place Saturday, with events planned at train stations and other sites in Kalamazoo, Bangor, Niles, Flint, Ferndale, Jackson and Holland.
In East Lansing, the celebration will include a resolution from the Michigan House of Representatives to an Amtrak conductor and proclaiming Saturday as Train Day in Michigan.
National Train Day marks the 143rd anniversary of the nation's first transcontinental railroad.
