One Killed, One Injured in Plane Crash

Reporter: Associated Press

Authorities say one person has been killed and another seriously injured in a small plane crash near a southeast Michigan airport.

Brighton Area Fire Authority Fire Chief Michael O'Brian tells WWJ-AM a Cessna-type plane crashed Saturday morning in a swampy area on the edge of Woodland Lake near Brighton Airport in Livingston County. He says it wasn't immediately clear if the pilot or the passenger died, but they were the only people on the plane.

O'Brian says the injured person was being flown to University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, about 20 miles south of the crash.

He didn't know if the plane was taking off or landing.

The Federal Aviation Administration didn't immediately respond to a message left by The Associated Press.
