Lansing Teen Killed In Shooting
A Waverly High School student was killed in a shoot out on Lansing's southside.
The shooting happened Monday at about 10:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Silver Stone Townhomes off of Martin Luther King Blvd.
When Lansing Police arrived at the scene, they found 17-year-old Denzel Moss on the ground. Police say he was then rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead an hour later. Sparrow Hospital has confirmed his death.
Dwayne Murray was visiting his son's mother, who lives in one of the townhomes, when the shooting happened. He says he heard multiple gun shots. After the shooting, he says went outside and found the victim lying on the grass by his home.
"It hurt me so bad," Murray said. "That could have been my son. Seriously, that could have been my son laying there. It just hurt me to see him laying there. He was lifeless. I see no life in him."
Denzel Moss was a student at Waverly High School. Sources tell News 10 he had just finished his junior year, and would have been a senior in the fall. Students have taken to Twitter and Facebook to mourn his loss and express their condolences.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene when Lansing Police arrived. Police say they are working to figure out the motive in the shooting.
News 10 will keep following their investigation, and post updates as soon as they become available.
