Send CMU Raising Tuition Less Than 2%

Undergraduate students at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant will be paying more for classes next fall.
The school's board of trustees voted Thursday to raise tuition 1.96 percent, adding $7 to the cost of each credit hour.
Students from Michigan currently pay $358 per credit hour. Students living outside the state pay will pay $789 for each credit hour.
Room and board, graduate tuition and courses at the university's Global Campus were increased by 2 percent.
Central president George Ross said setting tuition rates now allows students financial planning time.
Central Michigan's 3.47 percent tuition increase last summer was the lowest among Michigan's 15 public colleges and universities. The other schools haven't yet set fall tuition rates.
