Colombian Drug Lord Sued
A jailed Colombian warlord has been sued in Miami by the relatives of two people allegedly killed by his paramilitary forces.
The lawsuit against Carlos Mario Jimenez was filed June 14 in federal court, attorneys for the plaintiffs said Thursday.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages from the warlord's assets, which were seized in 2008. The attorneys concede securing any funds may be difficult, but say relatives simply want to confront the man they consider responsible for the deaths of their loved ones.
Jimenez is jailed in Miami, awaiting trial on drug trafficking charges. His attorney did not immediately respond to calls seeking comment.
He surrendered in 2006 to Colombian authorities under a peace pact and was extradited in 2008.
