Winter Storm Moves In Tuesday

Posted: $util.date("h:mm a MMM d, yyyy",$story.contentLiveDate,$timeZone)
Reporter: Darrin Rockcole

No problems today through the morning commute Tuesday. High pressure is close to the area and we see mostly sunny skies today with a high temperature in the upper 30s. The clouds start to roll back in tonight with a low in the mid 20s.
A storm system with plenty of moisture moves our way Tuesday. The day starts off dry, but during the afternoon hours snow and sleet move in from the south. Several inches of snow are possible for the afternoon commute Tuesday. Another burst of heavy snow is expected Tuesday night. Our computer model has a 3-6'' snowfall for the Lansing area Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon. Lesser amounts of snow are possible for Jackson, Ann Arbor and Hillsdale where there is a better chance of the snow mixing with freezing rain/sleet or even rain. No matter where you are in Mid-Michigan expect a slow Tuesday afternoon commute and a slow Wednesday morning on the roads.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch starting Tuesday afternoon and lasting until Wednesday morning. Watch for updated forecasts through today and tomorrow morning.
