Reporter: Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) -- Polls have closed across most of Michigan for the state's primary election, with voters making choices including a Republican to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
About 20 percent of Michigan's 7.33 million registered voters were expected to cast ballots Tuesday.
Pete Hoekstra of Holland has an advantage in money and name recognition over Clark Durant of Grosse Pointe as they battle for the GOP U.S. Senate nomination. The race also includes former Kent County Judge Randy Hekman of Grand Rapids.
Voters also could change history by dropping one or both of the state's two black congressmen.
And voters in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties are mulling a millage to support the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Four western Upper Peninsula counties on central daylight time close one hour later.
