Davenport University to Make New Campus in Lansing
Posted: 8:43 AM Jun 20, 2012 Reporter: News 10
LANSING - Davenport University is moving its downtown Lansing campus to another location downtown. On Wednesday, Davenport announced it will invest $10 million to renovate the old 9-story Fifth Third Bank building at Allegan St. and Grand Ave. Boji Group will handle the renovations, and take possession of Davenport's current building on Kalamazoo Street. Davenport expects to increase its enrollment from about 800 students to as many as 2,000 once the renovation and move is completed. Renovations are expected to begin this fall, and conclude next summer ahead of the fall term. Last year Davenport and Mayor Bernero had worked out a deal to trade properties, where Davenport would take control of the Oliver Tower building. That deal died when some members of city council questioned the process and wanted there to be bidding for the Oliver Tower property.
