Reporter: Darrin Rockcole

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Flash Flood Watch through Friday morning. The counties in Mid-Michigan included in the watch are Barry, Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Ionia, Jackson and Montcalm. Thunderstorms could cause heavy rainfall across the area.
The Storm Prediction Center keeps Mid-Michigan in the Slight Risk category for severe thunderstorms today and tonight. If we see severe weather the most likely time would be this afternoon or evening. Damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall remain our most likely threats.
Warm, humid and unstable air is in place across the area today and tonight. A front is draped across Northern Michigan and that will be the most likely place for rain and thunderstorms today. In our area we will have to watch and see if thunderstorms can pop up in the warm and muggy air mainly this afternoon, otherwise expect partly sunny skies and gusty winds today. The chance of seeing rain increases tonight as a cold front slowly drops south towards Mid-Michigan.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday as the cold front slowly moves through the area. Severe weather is not expected Friday.
