Authorities in West Michigan say they're holding a man on felony murder charges in the death of a woman whose body was found the remains of a burned-out house. The Kent County sheriff's department says it has jailed 62-year-old Michael Piranian for his role in the death of 24-year-old Kori VanHulle. Authorities are seeking to learn what killed her, and they're conducting an autopsy. Firefighters found VanHulle's body Monday in the basement of the house in Kent County's Sparta Township, about 15 miles northwest of Grand Rapids. WZZM-TV says VanHulle recently moved to the house from Kingsley, near Traverse City. The Grand Rapids Press says authorities believe the fire was deliberately set. They say five people lived in the house.
