Man Wounds Wife, Kills Self in Jackson County Assisted Living Center

An 89-year-old man walked into a Summit Township assisted living facility Tuesday afternoon and shot his 87-year-old wife who had been staying there.
The man then turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
The woman survived her wound and is in critical condition at Allegiance Health in Jackson.
The shooting occurred at about 2 p.m. at the Ridge Crest Health Center in the 700 block of Robinson Road.
The names of t he couple have not been released. The investigation is continuing.
