Police Investigating Shooting on U.S. 23 Near Interstate 96

Posted: 7:32 AM Oct 29, 2012
Reporter: News 10

A woman tells police she was shot at Monday morning as she was driving south on U.S. 23, just north of Interstate 96. The woman was not injured, but deputies and troopers swarmed into the area to investigate. Police band radio reports indicate police are also investigating the possiblility that it was a rock that struck the woman's windshield. The Ingham County Sheriff's office, who is taking part in this task force investigating the streak of shootings, can only confirm that a possible shooting is being investigated.

Traffic had been slowed as police investigated, but Livingston County Sheriff's office tells News 10 that all lanes are open.

It could be at least the 25th shooting in a string of shootings along the Interstate 96 corridor between Fowlerville and suburban Detroit.

A driver was wounded Saturday by a bullet that was fired into his car as he traveled eastbound on Interstate 96 on his way to the World Series game in Detroit.

A law enforcement Task Force investigating the string of shootings has released a sketch of a suspect.
