We start off this week in DeWitt where Doctor Beinaz Menagi says upper respiratory infections are going around. Symptoms include a runny nose, sneezing, a light cough, nasal congestion, mild fatigue and a sore throat. For treatment take Tylenol, Motrin, decongestants, cough suppressants, plus get plenty of rest and fluids.
Also in DeWitt Doctor Anthony Holowko is treating patients with Labyrinthitis. It is basically an inflammation of the inner ear and it causes dizziness and nausea. It's a feeling like the room is spinning and you may have trouble keeping your balance. Your doctor can prescribe medications to reduce nausea and dizziness. If there is an infection you might need antibiotics. Dr. Holowko also recommends bed rest. Avoid stairs, heights, and driving until the symptoms are resolved.
