The Detroit Historical Museum's "Fabulous 5" series is turning its focus to some of the area's best-known sports coaches.
The exhibit "Fabulous 5: Detroit's Beloved Sports Coaches" opens Saturday. It includes ex- Tigers manager Sparky Anderson, ex-Red Wings coach Scotty Bowman and Dick Vitale, better known as a broadcaster.
The exhibit also has ex-Pistons coach Chuck Daly and Will Robinson, first black coach of a Division I college basketball team. Daly died last year and Robinson died in 2008.
Two other exhibits open Saturday that are part of the museum's Detroit Artists Showcase. One includes the work of painter and illustrator John Gelsavage, and the other looks at recent acquisitions by the Detroit Historical Society.
