Mid-Michigan Events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The 4th annual "It's a Breast Thing" event is to support women undergoing the diagnosis, treatment & survivorship of Breast Cancer. There will be 30 Bra Decorating Contestants, 11 Health Related Exhibitors and "The Total You: Inside and Out"….Hormones & Exercise featuring Maude Guerin MD & Joy Berwald-Fitness Director YMCA. American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" events not only honor breast cancer survivors and remember those who have lost their battle to the disease, but they offer an opportunity to raise funds and awareness to help save lives and create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Riverwalk Amphitheater in Jackson with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the walk set to begin at 10 a.m. Or join breast cancer survivors, family and friends on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the State Capitol Building in Lansing. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 11 a.m.
The American Cancer Society PINK Tea will be on Tuesday, October 11 at 6 p.m. at Ingham Regional Medical Center Dawe Auditorium. Dr. Lewis Jones, director of breast imaging at IRMC, and Andrea Collier, women's health care advocate and author, will educate about breast cancer detection and mammography in a relaxed, colorful PINK setting.
