Olympic fever has spread in East Lansing.

Former Spartan Ryan Miller has been "the" story during this Olympic Hockey tournament, allowing only four goals in five games.

"He's playing out of his mind right now," MSU Freshman Alex Rosenau said "I can't believe how well he's playing."

"He's doing fantastic," Spartan season ticket holder John Ransom said. "He's stopping everything."

Friday MSU opened the doors to Munn Arena early so Spartan fans could watch their hometown hero in team USA's semifinal game.

"What a better place than Munn to watch Ryan Miller?" Rosenau said.

Next stop for Miller and company -- the gold medal game on Sunday -- fans hope team USA can keep the momentum going.

"Everywhere you go, even the U of M fans I work, with are excited about Ryan Miller," MSU season ticket holder Jill Royer said.

"Everyone, in even California, knows where East Lansing, MI is because of Ryan Miller," Munn Ice Arena Manager Tom Campbell said.

Spartan fans said they're thrilled Miller's Olympic play is shedding light on MSU, but they say his heroics in net aren't anything new. They've seen it time and time again throughout his collegiate career.

"He was the best college goalie I've ever seen play," Campbell said.

He'll need to be the best Olympic goalie Sunday if team USA will stand a chance.

"It's going to be tough, but I'm going with USA," Royer said.

"It's going to be tough, tough game, " Campbell said. "Ryan will have to stand on his head I think."

He's done it before in these Olympics, can the hometown boy do it one more time?

Team USA takes on Canada, Sunday at 3 o'clock.
