It's three days before the election, and Lansing's two mayoral candidates are continuing to hammer home their messages.

"Neighborhoods are the core for economic development, for job creation," Carol Wood said.

"The issues remain the vision of the future, the economy and jobs, and the budget," Mayor Virg Bernero said.

We found both candidates happy and content Friday at a community dinner, both using every last chance to campaign.

But the last time we saw them together, it was on a stage, tempers flaring.

So we asked, does last Tuesday's debate change the game plan? The short answer from both candidates is no.

"We've cut the commercials, sent the last piece of literature out there, the whole sale communication is done," Bernero said. "We've got a good message out there."

"Literature, brochures mailings, it's all been sent," Wood said. "We've been busy since February and we've been running this campaign to win and we intend to."

But they certainly didn't mind taking the time to discredit some things their opponents said on stage Tuesday night.

"One of them is that I took out money from the police budget for cameras, that's just not true," Wood said. "[Bernero] has been advocating that every year I've advocated raising taxes, that's not true."

"I've managed the city and led it into financial stability in spite of Carol Wood, not with Carol Wood's help," Bernero said.

Bernero said his team will continue to make calls and go door to door in the time left.

For Wood and her team, she says it will be more of the same door to door and in person meetings.

Full steam ahead for both, it seems, until Tuesday.

Both Mayor Bernero and Wood agree on one thing, getting out the vote this Tuesday is more important than who you support.

Both candidates want everyone to vote on election day.
