Two days ago Tyler Weitlauf came home to find his Ingham County house had been broken into.

"It was startling to know people came into your private area and they didn't think twice about doing it," Tyler Weitlauf said.

Thieves got in through the basement door, Weitlauf said they made off with a Wii and electronics.

"They see no one is home, I have trees all over, it probably looks like an easy target," Weitlauf said.

A common story said Jackson County Undersheriff Tom Finco, who counts at least 20 break-ins in Jackson in the last month.

"We've had a lot of break ins in the day time," Finco said, "people would leave their homes and come back to find their house was broken into."

Police said for each and every break in the process was the same. Thieves would knock on the door, and if no one answered, they would break the door in and then take whatever they wanted.

"TVs, electronics, jewelry, coins, guns, anything," Finco said.

But thieves made a misstep near Leslie Wednesday. The owner came home while the thieves were still in his house.

"They gave us the description of the vehicle and that it was heading south to Jackson County," Finco said.

Within minutes sheriff's deputies caught up with a van with two suspects and stolen property inside, a third suspect was caught hours later.

Police believe these three -- two men and a women -- are responsible for seven break ins in Jackson County, and two in Ingham County.

Police are trying to connect the suspects with other break-ins -- including the one at Weitlauf's house.

The suspects are being held in the Jackson County jail until they're charged -- which should be Friday.
