The driver was killed when the semi-truck he was driving rolled over on Interstate 96 Thursday morning. The accident has traffic backed up on westbound I-96 near the MLK and Cedar Street Exits in Lansing.

Firefighters have eastbound Edgewood Blvd. blocked off between Washington and Cedar because of the accident.

Morning commuters should try to avoid the area or allow extra time for travel.

The accident happened at about 6:30 this morning. The Lansing Police Department says officers are on scene investigating the cause, but believe a tire on the semi-truck may have blown.

The accident only involved the semi-truck. It had two trailers full of construction materials.

The driver has not yet been identified.
