"As a parent, you always expect to go before them. It's been pretty rough," said Emily Rapson's mother Cami Rapson.
16-year-old Emily was pronounced dead on July 7th, 2012. According to her mother, she suffered a sudden cardiac arrest.
"There's a lot of anger going on right now but you go through the five stages and we have to just make sure our other three kids are getting through it," said Cami Rapson.
The loss of Emily has also been tough on her three siblings. One of them expressed his grief through a tribute on Facebook. This is what it said in part:
"My little sister, I will never forget you. I've never cried so much in my entire life."
For her closest friends, the tragedy is just starting to sink in.
"It doesn't seem like this ever happens to you. It's always a story that you hear about someone else and now it has kind of hit close to home," said Kady McMahon.
Family and friends say they will always remember Emily for her aspirations and warm personality. According to her Cami Rapson, she was planning on attending college and becoming an orthodontist one day.
"She laughs and you're just laughing because it's just contagious and she's so happy and it's hard not to be happy around someone who's happy all the time," said McMahon.
Emily Rapson's life was cut too short, but it's also one that's still making an impact.
"She donated her organs and she's saving the lives of six kids and helping many others," said Cami Rapson.
