BWL Vote Could Put Pressure on Taxpayers

LANSING (WILX)-- BWL Board of Commission will vote on increasing the "return on equity" payment it makes to the city tonight.

If approved the payment would increase from 5% to 6.1%. The increase would give Lansing an extra $4 million dollars to pay for street lights.

BWL spokesperson Steve Serkaian says this would be third increase in three years without passing along the payment to the taxpayers.

"It definitly puts pressure on BWL rates in the future," said Serkaian.

News Tens Alyssa Fenske will have the full details tonight at 5pm.
