LANSING (WILX) - GM says it's sales rose 3.1percent in the month of May.

Contributing to the numbers, Cadillac is up almost 40 percent this year.

Chrysler says its sales rose 11 percent in May, a sign that auto sales rebounded from a slight dip in April.

Chrysler sold almost 167,000 cars and trucks last month for its best May since 2007.

Analysts expect U.S. sales to rebound in May to an annual rate of about 15.2 million vehicles. All automakers report sales on Monday.

Analysts say Memorial Day sales and price cuts are drawing buyers back into showrooms.

The strong showing comes after slower-than-expected sales in April.
