America Online will refund some customers who were billed after their tried to cancel their service. AOL made a deal with Michigan and 47 other states as well as the District of Columbia. AOL was notorious for making it difficult to cancel service and offered customer service representatives bonuses if they were able to stop someone from canceling. As part of the settlement AOL will end that practice and will allow customers to cancel online without speaking to a representative.
