"My girlfriend's son hit his head and I let him go to sleep and now he won't wake up," Ronald Woodard told 911 operators January 19th.
'How old is he?' the woman asked.
"He's two-years-old," Woodard replied.
That's is part of the 911 call 23-year-old Ronald Woodard made January 19th from a Jackson home, hours after he said his girlfriend's son hit his head while in his care.
"Hurry!" he said.
"Is he breathing?" The operator asked.
"Yes," Woodard replied.
Days later, two-year-old Cameron Russell died at an Ann Arbor hospital. Monday police arrested one man and one woman in connection with his death, but won't confirm names.
Neighbors on Backus Street saw police cars outside of this same address Monday afternoon.
"We saw the cops, plain clothes detectives too, sheriff's and city officers," Buster Frey said. "The street blocked off."
Steven Raymond -- who used to date Cameron's mom Christy Brown -- said he's convinced she is not responsible.
"She loved that little boy," Raymond said.
He places blame with her new boyfriend, Ronald Woodard.
"She let a stranger in and I don't think he could handle Cameron," Raymond said. "I don't think he had the patience for it."
Raymond said he is still in shock over what happened, regardless of blame. So, he's doing his best to keep little Cameron's memory alive.
"I still can't believe someone would do this," Raymond said. "Basically he was like my son."
After the funeral, Raymond dedicated his Myspace page to Cameron, who he calls a lovable little boy.
"It doesn't even feel like reality," he said "I can't comprehend that he's even gone. I can't believe anyone would do this."
The 23-year-old man and 21-year-old woman are being held tonight on charges of first degree murder and first degree child abuse.
Both could face life in prison if convicted.
