You think your safe in your own driveway.

"I started screaming to call 9-1-1," Nancy Parker said.

"When it happened I really didn't think about anything but getting help," Kaly Madison said.

These two women were held at gunpoint and mugged outside of the Women's Opportunity House off of Delta River Drive.

"A gentleman came and held me down," Parker said. "I was in the driver's seat and he had a gun."

The attack happened in the driveway around 10:30 at night. Nancy said the attacker opened the driver's side door and put a gun to her head and asked for money. Before they knew it, he was gone.

"I kept fighting with him when he grabbed my purse and ran," she said.

The attacker, six feet tall and wearing a red hoodie, left a souvenir at the scene.

"Whoever did it, dropped the clip of the gun," Madison said. "I guess it just fell out."

Police later found it, but the attacker may have come back around 3:30 a.m. to look for it himself.

"A girl was in the lobby and saw twinkling lights like a flash light and she screamed 'he's came back!'" Parker said.

Police are still investigating. Nancy and Kaly said they lost more than money.

"It really opened our eyes that we may not be as safe as we thought we were," Madison said. "He took more than a purse he took our sense of safety."

Madison and Parker decided to hold a community meeting to protect their neighbors. They invited a Lansing Police Officer to teach self defense tactics at the First United Methodist Church off of Waverly Road Wednesday.

More people need to carry concealed weapons. People aren't so quick to mug you if there is a good possibility you are carrying a gun.
