ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Construction has started on a $20 million student housing project for sororities and fraternities near the Grand Valley State University campus.
The Grand Rapids Press reports that Orion Construction broke ground on the first phase of Grand Villages last week.The $7.5 million Phase 1 will have five sorority houses and one fraternity house, ranging from 9,800 square feet to 12,000 square feet. Each house will have 14 to 17 bedrooms each.
Completion is expected by August, according to an Orion news release. Work on the second phase will follow completion of Phase 1.
The 20-acre site was purchased in 2013 by the Grand Villages partnership.
