LAPEER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities say a woman has died and others have been injured after a float carrying military veterans and two children to a parade collided with a car about 60 miles northwest of Detroit.
WJRT-TV reports the 80-year-old woman driving the car died at the scene Saturday morning after she turned in front of the float on a road in Lapeer County's Lapeer Township.
Officials said several people on the float were hurt but it wasn't immediately known how many people there were or the extent of their injuries.
The Associated Press left a message with sheriff's department officials.
The float was heading to the Metamora Days Parade.
