DETROIT (AP) -- A pre-winter snowstorm continues to grip parts of Michigan, with accumulations already topping 9 inches in the state's southeastern corner.
The National Weather Service says snow was falling at most of its Michigan reporting points at 3 p.m. Sunday, with temperatures ranging from 1 above zero at Ironwood in the western Upper Peninsula to 25 at Ypsilanti in southeastern lower Michigan.
The weather service says the storm has dropped 9.1 inches of snow at Newport in Monroe County, 8.7 inches at Morenci in Lenawee County and 8.4 inches at the Wayne County community of Wyandotte south of Detroit.
State police say they've handled at least 85 crashes in southeastern Michigan alone, as well as "numerous spinouts and driver assists."
