Winter Warm-Up Continues in Lansing

By  |

The first week of the Winter Warm-Up is in the books.

The free, eight-week program is put on by the Community Partners in Health. It kicked off last Saturday morning at Alive in Charlotte.

More than 500 people have signed up to keep track of their activity for their community so far. They've logged more than 3,200 miles.

Nine mid-Michigan cities and townships are competing for grant money from Blue Cross Blue Shield as part of the Blues Community Challenge.

"We really wanted to involve all nine of the communities and not just have it centered in one place," says Patrick Sustrich, the director of Alive.

Saturday's event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the downtown Lansing library on Capitol Ave. You'll hear from Jodi Davis, who lost 162 pounds just by walking and eating healthier.

A guided walking tour of the historic capital buildings and the River Trail starts at 3 p.m., with hot chocolate and prizes to follow.

It's not too late to sign up to log your miles for the Blues Community Challenge and help your community win money for health and wellness projects. Click the link below for more information.
