John McNeil and his two friends are all Michigan residents, and they explain that they have been winter surfers for years, saying that the cold water adds excitement to the experience. "The cold water adds an element of adrenaline; it's not the same as a warm water wave it's almost more exciting."
The men say that they are lucky to get one good day for surfing in the summer, but the conditions are right almost every day in the winter.
