Just in time for the holidays, the flu is going around. Physician Assistant Dan Moore at McLaren Greater Lansing Internal Medicine in Lansing is treating it.
The flu can bring fever, body aches, headache, chills, sweats, cough, sore throat and runny nose. It's very rare that you have nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
To treat the flu, rest, drink lots of fluids, and take fever reducers like Motrin, Aleve, or Tylenol and over-the-counter cold medications. Kids under age four should not take any kind of cough medicine.
You should see a doctor right away if your fever won't drop or if you have diabetes, COPD, asthma, cancer or any kind of chronic condition that may affect your body's ability to fight infection.
