What's Going Around

Physician Asst. Debra Allore at McLaren Greater Lansing-Holt Family Practice is seeing patients with a nausea/vomiting-type flu.

You'll have a fever or feel feverish. Other symptoms include: cough, sore throat, runny nose, stuffy nose, headache, body aches, chills, fatigue, and nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, which is common in kids.

Most flu cases clear up on their own in seven to 10 days.

Rest, drink lots of clear fluids, put a humidifier in your room, and gargle warm salt water. You may also want to try over-the-counter medications, like ibuprofen, acetaminophen or decongestants, for symptom relief.

Stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever has subsided.

If you have flu symptoms and are at risk of complications, see your doctor right away.
