Tuition and fees at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo are going up by 3.2 percent in the upcoming academic year.
The school says its board of trustees on Tuesday voted to approve the hike for 2014-15 and that it also meets a tuition restraint cap expected to be established by the state Legislature.
Beginning this fall, fulltime in-state freshmen and sophomores can expect to pay $10,700 annually, about $330 more than the current academic year. Fulltime, out-of-state freshmen and sophomores will pay about $25,000.
Freshmen and sophomores who live in Michigan will pay about $340 per credit hour. Graduate students from Michigan will pay about $515 per credit, while nonresident graduate students will pay about $1,090 for each credit hour.
