An Ingham County sheriff's deputy vehicle's dash cam caught a slide-off on tape on what looks like clear roads.
It happened on I-96 near Okemos. The highway appears fairly clear.
The video shows the car suddenly lose control, spinning around before coming to a stop on the shoulder.
Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth says there's a lesson to be learned here.
"You have to be a little more cautious when it's cold and snowy like this," Wriggelsworth said. "There will be slippery spots on the road where it may be shady or didn't get plowed quite as well. The salt doesn't work as well when it's bitterly cold."
Overpasses and underpasses can also be deceiving during cold weather. They typically ice up faster than roads.
