"It was pretty big and a ways off shore than it started moving pretty fast and away from us. Coolest thing i have ever seen!"
Clinton Township resident Scott Bedker shot video of a waterspout that formed over Lake St. Clair on his way to work Thursday morning.
He told WILX that he was driving in Grosse Pointe Shores, on his way to work, and noticed a man shooting video of the lake with his phone. When he looked out at the lake to see what the man was shooting, he noticed the waterspout.
The waterspout was a fair weather waterspout, meaning that it wasn't associated with any type of tornadic activity. A fair weather waterspout starts on the surface of the water, and works its way up to the base of cumulus clouds. They typically stay over water, and tend to fall apart if they make landfall.
