ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- A team of University of Michigan students is taking part in a nationwide competition designed to have students educate their peers on the effects of the nation's rising debt and motivate action in Washington on fiscal issues.

In addition to Michigan, other participating schools in the "Up to Us" competition include Brown, Georgetown and the University of Texas.

The teams' campaigns range from hosting symposiums or speeches with elected leaders and fiscal experts to facilitating classroom or town hall discussions.

The team with the most effective campaign will win $10,000 and be recognized by former President Bill Clinton at this year's Clinton Global Initiative University student meeting.

Those judging the "Up to Us" competition include Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, and "Good Morning America" host George Stephanopoulos.
