WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Pentagon says an American general was killed Tuesday when a man believed to be an Afghan soldier opened fire at a military base.
Rear Admiral John Kirby said Tuesday that the assailant fired into a group of international soldiers and was subsequently killed.
A man dressed in an Afghan army uniform opened fire on foreign troops at Camp Qargha, a base west of the capital, Kabul. The attacker wounded approximately 15 people, roughly half of them Americans, one official said. Among the wounded was a German brigadier general.
