DETROIT (AP) -- The largest Presbyterian group in the United States is holding its 221st General Assembly in Detroit.

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will gather for the weeklong meeting starting June 14 at Cobo Center. The biennial meeting brings together Presbyterian delegates and officials to debate and vote on issues of importance to the church.

The assembly met in 2012 in Pittsburgh, where it narrowly rejected a plan to divest from three companies whose products are used by the Israeli government in its occupation of Palestinian territories. It's expected to reconsider the matter in Detroit.

Several other Middle East-related proposals are expected to be brought to the floor.

Organizers say Detroit is "a city rediscovering its future and celebrating its rich diversity." The area has one of the nation's largest Arab populations.
