20-year-old Jeffery Scott Handley was arrested around noon Wednesday on Lansing Community College's campus.
Police believe the LCC student was involved in the vandalism of the Capitol Building last week, along with the war memorial on the same grounds. He is also being charged for the spray paint found on campus and in the city around the same time.
The charges are one felony count for malicious destruction of tombs and memorials, and two misdemeanor counts for defacing public property.
Handley is being held on a $7,500 bond and will be in court for his preliminary exam on September 20.
